When you apply for Aadhaar Card , it is essential to provide your email address and registered mobile number. In case you fail to do so, the authorities may not be able to deliver your Aadhaar Card.
Step-by-Step Addition of Mobile Number in Aadhaar Card
The first step to adding your registered mobile number in your Aadhaar Card is to visit the Aadhaar Card website and download the correction application form and get a print out of the same. You are required to provide a few details as requested by the form, including your name, gender, date of birth, address, mobile number and email address. At the top of the form you will find a ‘Field for Update / Correction’ in which you must tick ‘Mobile’, following which you must enter your Aadhaar number in the space provided.In the section that requests for your mobile number, enter your registered mobile number that you wish to link to your Aadhaar Card . It is recommended that you also attach a photocopy of an ID document and ensure that your Aadhaar number is mentioned in said document/s. Once you have entered the necessary details, you will have to sign the form or provide a thumbprint after which you may send the application through post at the address provided below.

Once the form has been sent, you will have to wait for a few days as the authorities will take some time to cross verify your identity. - Choose the ‘Verify Email/Mobile Number’ option that falls under ‘Aadhaar Services’
- Enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number, mobile number, email-id and the security code
- Key in the OTP

- If the verification is successful, a green tick will be displayed

Deadline to furnish Aadhaar details extended till the year end
The government has notified that the deadline to furnish Aadhaar details shall be extended till the year end from September 30, 2017. Though a 12-digit unique number issued to every Indian can be linked by the state to several financial transactions and programmes, it was challenged in the Supreme Court claiming that it violates the right to privacy.
In early November, judges will rule on whether or not the government’s linking of Aadhaar to direct fund transfer to beneficiaries of welfare schemes, tax returns and bank borrowings violates that right. Aadhaar database already has the biometrics of billion plus Indians, the sources added.
Deadline for Aadhaar PAN linking may be extended August 31, 2017
The government is likely to extend the deadline for Aadhaar and PAN linking. A decision in this regard will soon be made by the government. Those who are exempt from this rule are Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), those aged above 80 years and those living in Assam, Jammu and Kashmir or Meghalaya.
The deadline will most likely be extended to December 31, 2017. Taxpayers were still eligible to pay tax even though they had not linked their Aadhaar card with their PAN. As per rules, every person who is eligible to get an Aadhaar and with a valid PAN should link both respectively.
12th September 2017Aadhaar now to be linked with mobile numbers
Telecom operators are now sending SMS alerts to consumers, asking them to link their mobile numbers with their Aadhaar data. This comes after the government made Aadhaar a must to purchase a new SIM card.
The Department of Telecom (DoT) has already directed mobile service providers to complete all e-KYV re-verification processes for all prepaid and postpaid consumers by the beginning of 2018. Meanwhile, in March, the Supreme Court said that all mobile numbers need to be verified in the country.
The DoT also had a meeting with UIDAI, TRAI and the Prime MInister’s Office to discuss how to implement this new process. DoT has asked telecom service providers to communicate this new initiative with all existing consumers.
8th June 2017Existing mobile subscribers will have to provide Aadhaar KYC verification soon
All current subscribers of mobile services will have to opt for Aadhaar-based re-verification at the earliest, with the government instructing telecom operators to start the process. COAI which is the Cellular Operator’s Body said that all members might meet soon to discuss the modalities of starting the verification process for all current mobile phone users who are more than a billion.
According to the Telecom Department, all operators will use and share one common device method through mutual agreements and will also work on mechanisms in order to avoid inconvenience and long queues.
31st March 2017Aadhaar Mandatory for Income Tax, Cash Transaction Limited to Rs.2 Lakhs
The government of India has made its decision to lower the cash transaction limit by a lakh. Previously, the limit was Rs.3 lakhs, but has now been reduced to Rs.2 lakhs. The government also announced that Aadhaar numbers are compulsory for availing a PAN card as well as the filing of income tax returns.
After the president gives his assent to the finance bill, cash transactions in excess of Rs.2 lakhs will be considered illegal. Starting from the 1st of July, Aadhaar will become mandatory for any individual who wishes to apply for a PAN card or file their tax returns

The UIDAI, which is the centralised identification body of the country and is responsible to identify citizens, has revealed that Indian citizens now have greater job opportunities as Aadhaar jobs. The UIDAI disclosed that there are over 2000 jobs vacant for students who have cleared their 10th / 12th standard as well as graduates who are considered qualified for Aadhaar jobs. The UIDAI has invited candidates to apply online, and urged individuals who want to make the most of the job to apply immediately. Although there is no last date to make an application, the selection of candidates is expected to be done based on an interview, a trial test and a written test which will be held by the UIDAI.
